Can hemp products make me test positive on a drug test?

Short answer… NO. The concentration of THC in our products is well below the legal hemp limit of 0.3% THC, and the healing molecules within our products are used up by the myriad receptors on site and rarely make it into the blood stream. To this day, we have yet to see/hear of a case where our products have caused someone to test positive.

Several customers have even gotten blood and urine tests after months of daily use, even through pregnancy or while in the military, and we are happy to report that even under tightly controlled testing standards, there have been zero positive tests to date. Currently, drug tests are looking for THC, not CBD (cannabidiol) or any of the other healing cannabinoids, terpenoids, flavonoids, etc. found within hemp/cannabis plants.

With that being said, we are required to say, we cannot guarantee you will pass a drug test after using our products. However, the science and odds are heavily in your favor, and we believe in your sentience to make an informed decision. We leave it to you to decide what is best for you and your family! :^)

What’s the difference between hemp and cannabis?

Hemp and cannabis are simply different varietals of the same genus known as Cannabis Sativa L.

Hemp was the original crop, discovered by the ancient Chinese, and it was used for industrial and medical purposes. They managed to keep it a secret for 300+ years before the word got out through trade routes. Eventually, hemp made it to more humid and tropical climates where it was selectively bred over many generations to produce more of the sticky and fragrant flowers that had the medicinal and mind expanding properties that people were seeking. Thus, the modern smoke-able forms of cannabis were born and have continued to evolve and expand with mankind.

Hemp grows like bamboo, tall, fast and in dense fields, with only one top flower that produces a small amount of THC. The stock of hemp is the most important part of the crop for industrial uses since it makes up most of the plants mass and has thousands of industrial uses.

The top flower (cola) and roots are a much smaller portion of the overall biomass of the crop, but their importance is significant since they are used for medicinal applications. They contain the same spectrum of healing molecules found in medical cannabis, except in different ratios, specifically in regards to the THC content that is generally below 1% and must be below 0.3% THC to be considered federally hemp legal. This is an outdated and arbitrarily set number that will hopefully change soon since it is unrealistic and impractical since most hemp is naturally around 0.5-1.5% THC. We highly encourage you to contact your legislators today to help stop the burning of farmer’s hemp crops if a single plant tests above 0.3%, and that an appropriate average should be used in testing.

Medical Cannabis is much different and can grow into a large bushy tree that has hundreds of flowers on it. These flowers are where the bulk of the medicinal molecules reside. Especially THC concentrations since cannabis strains have been selectively bred to have artificially high amounts of THC in them in recent decades.

This has had negative consequences for many people seeking the health benefits of cannabis supplementation since the ratio of healing molecules is so unbalanced it causes anxiety attacks. Hopefully, the industry shifts back to a more balanced state now that people are coming to better understand the science of cannabis based medicine.

Despite prior beliefs, THC is not the most important factor to yield therapeutic effects. As with all things in this life, finding a balance is the most important part, and our science clearly indicates, the best medicinal value comes from full spectrum products/extractions. Especially those that are rich in the parent molecule of THC and CBD, known as CBG and CBGA or Cannabigerol and Cannabigerolic acid.

In general, the acidic forms of any molecule are being proven more medicinally active, and that the proper combination with specific terpenoid & flavonoid profiles are equally important, but still poorly understood. Suffice it to say, hemp/cannabis offer an incredibly broad spectrum of therapeutic properties that can be personalized and tailored to exactly what an individual needs for near any ailment. At this time, 2023, we have a robust foundation of research to start from, and the next 20 years of research will allow us to wield this medicine in ways we never imagined.

Can I become addicted to hemp products?

This question always makes us smile, and the simple answer is, NO.

However, if you have spent any time with yourself/humans, you will know that there is always someone, somewhere, that will find a way to become reliant upon literally anything. This is a natural coping mechanism for those suffering from a mental, emotional or physical trauma, and we highly encourage seeking help to address this. If this hits home, please contact us to find out how to get the help you, or someone you love, may need at info@beginbotanicals.com.

Currently, people are addicted to all kinds of foods, screens and things that allow them to use their minds less and less and avoid thinking of the things that are actually hurting them. Opting instead to have the bulk of their thinking done for them by the very sources that are benefiting from their mindless consumption.

We should probably be more cautious of the types of things that have been purposefully engineered to be addicting and misleading. This should absolutely include hemp/cannabis products that are solely about chasing a high and consuming as much as possible.

It is no secret that we are not like many companies in the industry, and our topical and sublingual hemp products are specifically engineered to help our customers truly heal. Ideally, we want to help people discover what caused their ailments in the first place so they can work to reverse them for good through healthy lifestyle changes and key supplementation. Our products do not elicit a high, and should not be bought with the intention of getting high. If this is your intent, please look elsewhere because you are not our target audience. :^)

The beauty of using hemp products is that it acts on the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), and this system is different from the opioid system that merely blocks pain signals and does nothing for inflammation. ECS stimulation reduces the pain signals being sent to the brain by around 50%, allowing us to get out of immediate pain by reducing it enough that it is no longer the primary focus in our mind. Thus letting us focus on other tasks, which causes the pain to dissipate even more.

Simulaneously, it reduces the inflammation that is causing the pain. Meaning the more consistently we use hemp products, the better they work!

In short, no, you are not a druggy that will become addicted if you use hemp products responsibly. The only gateway it opens in your mind, is one that leads towards greater self awareness and a higher quality of life as we gradually discover the things we do that cause our own problems and work to change those habits.

What does full spectrum mean and why is it preferable over CBD isolate products?

This is a great questions to ask, and it is pretty simple to understand…

Basically, Mother Nature is the master teacher and healer, and the plants she produces have specific ratios of dozens to thousands of molecules in them that work together to produce a well rounded therapeutic effect. A full spectrum extraction is one that uses the appropriate methods and solvents to extract as many of these healing molecules as possible, leaving behind only the things that are not needed.

This full spectrum approach is the best way to extract the medicinal benefits from most plants. When finished and filtered, those extractions can then be put into any product you can think of. Our products are always full spectrum because scientific studies have consistently shown that full spectrum extraction products are up to 100 times more therapeutic, and do not have unintended side effects.

Conversely, isolated products require very expensive equipment that has to be run by a chemist or an experienced technician to extract the molecules and then separate them out into individual components. In the case of CBD isolate, this would mean everything else would get wasted unless they used it for other purposes. It also tends to be several times more expensive for the consumer, and has no THC or any of the other beneficial molecules in the end product.

This is not a good thing because we still want at least a small amount of THC, and as many of the original molecules as possible in the end product since they work much better together. There is also a much greater likelihood for an adverse reaction because of the side effects that naturally occur when using isolated compounds. This happens with anything when you concentrate one good thing too much, and gradually remove the other supporting components. A certain phrase should come to mind about too much of a good thing becoming a bad thing…

For evidence of this, look no further than the pharmaceutical industry. Many of their drugs were first derived from plants, and then the most active ingredients were chemically (artificially) synthesized in the labs of these “legal” drug lords. The isolated compounds they produce are then concentrated into a pill with fillers that can bring further hazards.

At the end of it all, you have a compound that will mask the desired symptom without ever getting to the root cause (perpetual money maker). And all too often, these concoctions have a list of side effects that are far worse than the ailment they are being taken for.

Around 10-25% of all pharmaceutical products have good use and purpose to them, so it is not about avoiding this form of medicine all together. It is about thinking from a more zoomed out perspective to always seek the root cause(s) to the symptoms if you truly want to resolve your problems for good. It also keeps in alignment with the hippocratic oath to first, do no harm, and the most good.

It is all about balance, and isolated products are the exact opposite of balanced since they lack diversity. Diversity is how nature keeps itself in balance naturally. We see this reflected in everything, from healthy forests and microbiomes, to reefs and cities. The ones that are the most diverse are the ones that are most balanced and thriving.

You don’t have to buy our products, but please only support companies that make full spectrum or at least broad spectrum products. There are too many large “CBD” companies that have the money to put out large quantities of “certified” products that only use isolate ingredients and often won’t even have any hemp in them and bad ingredients.

This is literally getting people subpar results that come with side effects that are ruining the reputation of humble herbs like hemp that are designed to heal. Please vote with your dollars in a conscious and informed way, as that is one of the best ways to make a difference.

The plants already hold all the cures for our ailments! The trick is to minimally process them without ruining or breaking down the healing molecules of interest. We also highly encourage you to plant your own herbs and learn to use them at home in your meals and homemade products so you can keep yourself healthy and well all by yourself! :^)

Why do we care about regenerative & sustainable practices?

Simply put, our planet has a finite limit of renewable resources, and unless we finally start to regeneratively cultivate and use them responsibly on a large scale, our children will continue to have a future that is full of disease, violence, destruction and corruption.

This does not imply simply greenwashing things so that a sidestep looks like a forward step, as we currently see happening in most industries under the nice sounding banner of climate change mitigation. Look closer and you will see many things, like electric vehicles, have an equal, and sometimes larger, carbon footprint than their predecessors, just with good marketing aka propaganda. We need true solutions that get to root causes if we wish to get of the hamster wheel of treating symptom after symptom.

What regenerative sustainability truly means is that whatever we are making, we must give back more than we take, and not take more than nature can regenerate in a given season. All raw ingredients come from the earth, and unless we do things in a regenerative manner, we will eventually go bankrupt of that resource after decades of unconscious exploitation.

It is this type of human short-sightedness that caused the dust bowl in America, and the creation of the Sahara desert in north Africa long ago. Few people are aware that those were created by industrial agriculture practices that went beyond the limits of sustainability, and we are doing the same thing now across many industries.

We aim to help build a future that is rooted in regenerative & sustainable models, from agriculture to business, and all things that promote balance, love, healing, peace, creation and equality for all life.

Call us crazy dreamers, but the shift to a higher consciousness is well underway. As Albert Einstein said, “We cannot solve a problem from the same level of consciousness that created it.” Seeking the balance in everything is what has always produced the most optimal results.

Just take the time to pause and look around often. You will notice all the imbalanced things we are doing that cause our own problems. Everything in life is connected and interdependent, and unless the pursuit of balance becomes our collective norm, we will eventually cause our own undoing.
